After two years without a show because of Covid, the annual Badenoch Gardening Club Flower and Produce Show was back in Newtonmore Village Hall.

After a brilliant summer, gardeners had been busy. There were winning entries of sweetcorn, aubergines and tomatoes, as well as the usual potatoes, beans and onions.

The vases of flowers gave a splendid display and there was a record number of entries of roses at the show on Saturday last week. The produce sections of baking and jams had many entries including delicious raspberry jam and scones. Young Gardeners made bug hotels and decorated biscuits.

Evelyn Littlejohn Trophy (best vegetable in show): Abernethy Primary School. Stuart Sim Cup (most points in vegetable section): 1st Beth Alder (30 points).

Green Gardener Trophy (most points in vegetable section by someone who has never before won a vegetable trophy): 1st Helen Gray (7 points).

Badenoch Gardening Club Trophy (best cut flower in show): Viv Haylock. Buchanan Trophy (most points in cut flower section) 1st= Lynne Munro & Viv Haylock (12 points).

Enid Furness Trophy (best named sweet pea): Lynne Munro. Barclay Trophy (best rose): Viv Haylock.

Jean Burnard Trophy (best foliage pot plant): Sue Thomas. Hutchison Bros Trophy (best flowering pot plant): Catherine Downie.

Betty Murray Trophy (best club plant): Fran Raw. Sutherland Cup (best floral art): Laura Pierce for ‘Summer in a basket’.

Archie Peebles Trophy (best fuchsia): Laura Pierce. Iain MacDonald Trophy (best container): Barbara Douglas.

Jeanette MacDonald Shield (most points in preserves and sweets): Sue Thomas (17 points).

Balgonie Dairy Cup (most points in baking section): Lynda Dodd (27 points).
