Garden club holds plant sale

The Carlsbad Garden Club will hold a plant sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th at the Makers Market on the grounds of St Michael’s by the Sea in Carlsbad, 2775 Carlsbad Blvd. A variety of potted flowers, succulents and other kinds of plants will be sold. Senior center offers free walking groups

The Carlsbad Senior Center hosts two free weekly walking groups. Monthly Bird Watch at botanic garden

Rotary’s Wine and Food Fest Saturday

The Encinitas Rotary Wine and Food Festival is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4th at Encinitas Ranch Golf Course, 1275 Quail Gardens Drive. Celebration of Sikes Adobe 150th anniversary

San Diegito River Park and the Friends of Sikes Adobe holds a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Sikes Adobe Historic Homestead. Free workshop on strokes offered Friday

A free class on strokes is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday June3 at the Escondido Adult School, 220 W. Volunteer Training Sessions hosted by The Elizabeth Hospice

The Elizabeth Hospice holds free orientation sessions via videoconferencing for community members who want to help adults and children facing life-limiting illness or grieving the death of a loved one. Attendees will learn about a variety of virtual and in-person opportunities throughout San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County, including serving as a patient companion, providing caregiver respite, performing aromatherapy, sewing Cuddle Bears, officiating at veteran pinning ceremonies and more. Mobile home park holds two-day rummage sale

Rancho Calevero Mobile Home Park at 3570 Calevero Lane, is holding a carport and rummage sale 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 3 to Saturday, June 4. Filipino Cultural Celebration set for Saturday

The annual Filipino Cultural Celebration is noon to 6 p.m. June 4 in the Oceanside Civic Center Plaza, 330 N. Coast Highway. The 21st annual event features folk dancing and music, a fashion show of colorful costumes of the islands, ethnic cuisine and performances by local Filipino-American community members along with vendor booths selling Philippine crafts and native art along with other Filipino goods and services. The Veterans Association of North County holds its annual car show fundraiser Saturday June 4 featuring classic cars, trucks and motorcycles to new rides with modern technology at the VANC resource center parking lot, 1617 Mission Ave. Highlights include live music. The San Marcos Writers’ Critique Group meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays via Zoom for serious writers to critique each other’s writings. Families needed for Type 1 diabetes study

Families with adolescent children with Type 1 diabetes are being sought for a study by graduate student Jessica Preciado, under the direction of professor Sharon Hamill, from the Psychology Department at California State University San Marcos. This study is designed to explore Type 1 diabetes in adolescents ages 13-18 and how families manage the disease. Participants will complete a brief online survey at their convenience. All eligible participants who complete the survey will receive $5 (maximum of $15 per family). Study results will be made available upon request. Applications accepted for North County Celtic Queen Pageant

Applications accepted for North County Celtic Queen Pageant to be held 1 p.m. Sept. 17 at Faith Lutheran Church. Single girls living in North San Diego County between the ages of 13-28 are eligible to enter. Candidates do not need to be of Irish heritage, just Irish at heart. Court Members will be awarded prizes and gifts, and become goodwill ambassadors for the North County communities. The North County Celtic Queen Pageant is a nonprofit, providing Candidates with over 60 service opportunities during their year of service. All proceeds from the Pageant go to this year’s Charity of Choice, the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary.
