Is most of Michigan done with frost? Can we plant our entire garden now? - mlive.com

The classic time to plant and not worry about frost in Lower Michigan is Memorial Day weekend. Do we really have to wait that long, given the record warmth we are experiencing? Let’s look at next week’s cool-down, and if it could cause frost. Then let’s try to look at the week after for any late frost. Maybe we can figure out it’s OK to start planting the frost-killed garden plants, and all of our gardens for that matter.

A much cooler pattern will develop for a short time next week. Cooler air will filter in Monday and Tuesday, with the coldest temperatures bottoming out Wednesday morning.

Here is the low temperature forecast from the computer model I consider best for seven days out in the future. I’ve drawn in where frost would be possible based on this forecast.
