Kara Hosmer launched the shop to support her dad, Martin Hosmer, who will run the London Marathon in October.

A Hinckley resident ran a 'pop-up' succulent shop from her driveway in July to support her dad's London Marathon bid and raise funds for Mary Ann Evans Hospice Charity.

Kara Hosmer of Ashby Road, Hinckley, nurtured over 100 plants to sell. She spent the last weekend in July raising funds for her dad, Martin Hosmer, who is running the marathon in October 2022.

With a gazebo, bunting and decorations, Kara displayed the plants on tables and shelving and added signage and posters outside the driveway to attract customers.

Kara said: "I want to support my dad and this charity. He is doing the hard work by running the 26 miles!"

Kara had many customers over the two days and raised over £150 for Mary Ann Evans.

Martin Hosmer said: "I am so proud of my daughter for organising all this and supporting the charity. She is amazing!"

Martin has fundraising events lined up later in the summer, including a race night, and hopes to reach his target before the marathon.

On his JustGiving page, he said: "I am hoping to raise £2,500 for the hospice, which isn't a lot when you consider the £2.2 million it costs a year to operate their services.

"They provide them free of charge to those who need their vital end-of-life care and support in the local community."
