Update at 9:15 p.m.: Interstate 81 is back open in both Parish and Sandy Creek after two separate incidents involving tractor-trailers Monday. A tractor-trailer jack-knifed on I-81 North in Parish and a tractor-trailer went off the road on I-81 South in Sandy Creek, according to 911 dispatchers. Police closed sections of the highway Monday night, but the highway is back open now.
Update at 8:10 p.m.: Interstate 81 North in Parish is back open after a jack-knifed tractor-trailer was cleared from the highway, Oswego County 911 dispatchers said. Snowy roads has led to numerous crashes and vehicles off the road, dispatchers said. At about 11:45 a.m., a tractor-trailer slid off I-81 South in Sandy Creek and ended up on the side of the road. At 7:50 p.m., police closed all lanes of I-81 South to remove that tractor-trailer. I-81 South in Sandy Creek was still closed at 8:10 p.m., but dispatchers didn’t think it would be closed too much longer.
Parish, N.Y. — A portion of Interstate 81 in Oswego County is closed at rush hour Monday while crews work to clear a tractor-trailer that jack-knifed, according to 911.
Someone called the Oswego County 911 Center at 2:34 p.m. to report a tractor-trailer had jack-knifed and was leaking fuel, a 911 dispatcher said.
State police and Parish volunteer firefighters responded to the scene.
The tractor trailer jack-knifed on I-81 North, before Exit 34 (NY 104, Mexico/Parish), however 511NY.org is reporting all lanes of the highway are closed.
Interstate 81 in Parish closed at 4:20 p.m. so crews could begin to move the tractor-trailer, officials said. The highway is expected to remain closed for up to two hours.
